Protect the remaining data
Do not clear cookies, site data, browser storage, or Basketball GM data while investigating. Do not perform a Hard Reset: the Hard Reset manual says that the procedure removes previous game data.
Check every browser profile you may have used. If you find the league, immediately create a backup with Tools → Export League.
When recovery is possible
According to the Basketball GM FAQ, deleted league data can be recovered only if you already have a backup. Search your Downloads folder, documents, external drives, cloud-storage folders, and email attachments for an exported League File.
Preserve any backup you find and import a copy rather than modifying the original.
Import an exported league
The Basketball GM customization manual provides this restoration path:
- Create a new league.
- Open Customize.
- Select Upload league file.
- Choose the exported League File.
- Create the league and inspect the restored data.
For an exact backup, the manual recommends exporting every component, except that Box Scores may be omitted because they can occupy substantial space.
Prevent another loss
The Basketball GM FAQ recommends enabling Persistent Storage and regularly creating backups through Tools → Export League. Keep dated export files outside the browser's local storage and periodically test that they can be imported as new leagues.
Avoid similarly named games
Make sure recovery instructions refer to Basketball GM by ZenGM. Astonishing Basketball Manager is a separate title; its Steam store page identifies different developers and lists Steam Cloud among its features. Those Steam-specific details do not establish that Basketball GM leagues are synchronized.
